Daniel Tran is a third-year medical student at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health and is currently completing a research fellowship under Dr. Brian Wong at the University of California, Irvine. He graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with a degree in Nutritional Sciences: Physiology and Metabolism and a minor in toxicology. His hobbies include lifting, exploring new restaurants, and watching Formula 1.

Wonhee Lee is a third-year medical student at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and is currently completing a research fellowship under Dr. Brian Wong at the University of California, Irvine. She plans to apply for residency in otolaryngology.  She grew up in Korea and attended high school in Vermont before earning her B.A. in Statistics from UC Berkeley. Prior to medical school, she worked as an actuary. Outside of medicine, she enjoys cooking, hosting dinners for friends and family, and spending time with her dog, Bora.

Daniel Kim is a first-year medical student at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine. A Southern California native, Daniel grew up in La Mirada before attending Cornell University, where he studied chemistry and religious studies and graduated summa cum laude. He subsequently earned a Master of Engineering degree in Materials Science from the University of California, Berkeley, further strengthening his background in applied science and engineering. During his gap years, Daniel also pursued academic research at both the University of California, Irvine and Occidental College. His work has focused extensively on ophthalmology and vision science, including research related to corneal reshaping and other areas of ophthalmic investigation. In parallel, he has developed a sustained interest in otolaryngology and its related clinical and research disciplines. At UC Irvine, he hopes to build upon his broad scientific training, engineering background, and translational research experience as he begins his medical education.

Sarah Liu is a first-year medical student at Loma Linda University. She graduated from the University of California, Irvine, where she studied Biomedical Engineering and worked in Dr. Wong’s research lab. In her free time, Sarah enjoys playing music in chamber ensembles, orchestras, and her church, as well as spending time with family and friends.

Gianna Insogna –a former NCAA Division I tennis player at Fordham University, Gianna earned her B.A. in Philosophy and Bioethics. After graduating, she founded a health education program with the non-profit Sloane Stephens Foundation. She later completed a premedical post-baccalaureate program at Scripps College and worked as a research coordinator at New York University’s Perlmutter Cancer Center before beginning medical school at the University of California, Irvine.  Gianna plans to pursue otolaryngology–head and neck surgery and currently conducts research in Dr. Brian Wong’s lab at UCI. Her work investigates methods of preserving healthy nasal cartilage after surgery, including examining the effects of doxycycline on cartilage cell survival and using confocal microscopy to distinguish living from nonliving cells. She also uses MATLAB-based software to analyze nasal anatomy and study patients with narrow nasal passages. Her broader research experience includes receiving an NIH T35 research training grant, which supported a summer of dedicated research. Gianna serves as president of UCI’s chapter of the American Medical Women’s Association, where she supports mentorship, professional development, and the advancement of women in medicine. She ultimately hopes to combine head and neck surgery with global health work to expand access to specialized surgical care in underserved communities worldwide.

Ashley Liau is an incoming undergraduate student at the University of California, Irvine, where she will major in Public Health Sciences on the pre-medical track. She has worked with Dr. Brian Wong at the Beckman Laser Institute since her junior year of high school, contributing to research and patient education projects. She is interested in exploring the intersection of medicine, public health, and communication as she begins her undergraduate studies. Outside of the lab, she enjoys journalism, playing the viola, discovering new restaurants, and spending time with friends and family.

Annie Ye is a second year medical student from UCLA DGSOM with an interest in otolaryngology–head and neck surgery. She is drawn to the field for its combination of creativity, technical skill, and the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in patients’ quality of life. Annie especially values mentorship, collaboration, and learning from people with different backgrounds and perspectives, and she hopes to build a career that combines thoughtful patient care and innovation with service to diverse communities. She is excited to work with Dr. Brian Wong and the UCI team and to contribute to the 2026 Facial Rejuvenation Course. Outside of medicine, Annie enjoys painting, ceramics, spending time outdoors, such as camping and fishing/hiking, traveling, and exploring new restaurants!

Mackenzie Huynh, a third-year undergraduate student at Chapman University, is pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Health Science with a concentration in Applied Human Physiology. She currently works at a dental oncology office and is also a member of the Chapman University Cheerleading team. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, cooking, and snowboarding.

Juliet Ra is a sophomore at Crean Lutheran High School with an interest in public health, medicine, and clinical research. I am also interested in learning how research can be used to improve patient care.
